The art of creation begins with the act of destruction. To build something new, you must first break what came before.
Before our rugs find their place as a tactile foundation for modern living, they begin their journey in an unexpected place: a sketchbook. This is a story that goes back to the early 2000s, when founder Linus Dean, honed his craft as a graphic designer in Sydney. His passion for deconstruction and creative rebellion laid the groundwork for a new design language.

Driven by a passion for deconstruction and creative exploration, Linus filled A5 sketchbooks with intricate collages of found print materials. These pages were a laboratory of ideas, where fragmented typography, bold shapes, and geometric forms were meticulously cut, rearranged, and recomposed. This practice, a rebellion against conventional design, laid the groundwork for the brand’s core aesthetic.

The visual language of those sketchbooks—the purposeful chaos, the striking balance of form and color—is the true beginning of LTD.design. It is the raw, authentic source code for our rugs. Today, those same principles are translated from paper to loom, becoming a vibrant, hand-knotted reality through the time-honored craftsmanship of our Nepalese artisans.

The journey from sketchbook to loom is a testament to the fact that every LTD.design rug is more than a product; it is the culmination of a lifelong creative process, a piece of art with a genuine, personal origin story.
